Internet activist Aaron Swartz committed suicide in New York on January 11. He was 26. Swartz was the co-author of the initial specification for the RSS tool and founder of Infogami, a service that later merged with Reddit. Swartz was a proponent of Internet freedom and co-founded DemandProgress.org, an advocacy group that campaigns against Internet censorship.
Swartz was under investigation for alleged computer fraud and illegally obtaining 4 million documents from the JSTOR online journal archive in 2011.
