A new survey released today by The Intelligence Group finds that Gen Y is not necessarily the group of “slacktivists” as many have labeled them, but show signs of strong social awareness and activism.

The “Good Guide” survey asked 900 18-34-year-olds about issues related to their social consciousness, ranging from how they will vote for president to their preferred platform for advocacy.

Seventy-three percent of Millennials surveyed said they will base their presidential vote on who will make the world better overall, while 27% said they will base their vote on who they think will improve their personal situation. Two out of three surveyed believe that “a person on a computer, being aware, and spreading the word” can create more change than “a person on the street, rallying, and protesting.” View the full survey results here.
