Chicago Teachers Union delegates voted Sunday to extend their strike into a second week, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he would seek an injunction in court to end the work stoppage.
Sunday’s vote came as a surprise after union leaders and school administrators had said they agreed upon a basic framework for a new teachers contract. But CTU President Karen Lewis said delegates were “not happy with the agreement. They’d like it to be a lot better for us than it is.” The union’s governing board will meet again on Tuesday.
