The most decorated Olympian in modern history Michael Phelps will get to hang on to his medals for now, despite a possible violation from a leaked ad campaign.
Phelps’ agent Peter Carlisle said the retired swimmer did not violate the International Olympic Committee rules when provocative pictures of the swimmer in a campaign for fashion house Louis Vuitton were leaked on the Internet during the London Games.
The IOC’s provision known as Rule 40 prohibits athletes from promoting non-official sponsors during and shortly before the Games. Possible sanctions include stripping medals won by an offending athlete.
