Mobile check-in app Foursquare is starting to lose popularity, so to regain users’ interest the founders are creating a recommendation service, competing with companies such as Yelp.

The app will offer up location-based recommendation such as bars, restaurants, and stores based on places users and theirs friends check into the most.

Going up against other popular mobile apps, such as Pinterest and Instagram, Foursquare is also showcasing photos more in its revamped efforts, and users will be able to “like” other people’s check-ins, making the app more interactive.
